COVID-19 Analysis

DESCRIPTION

This project features a descriptive analysis of COVID-19 outbreak and exploration of potential predictive features in United States states and counties.

RESULT

Results are presented in a report with discovered trends, patterns and potential relationships.

Confirmed Cases by State

The state with the highest number of confirmed cases is California, followed by Texas and Florida.

Deaths by State

Although California is the state with the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, the state with the highest number of deaths is New York.

COVID-19 cases and deaths were classified by waves, which can be seen in the graph on the left, where the First Wave covers from February 2020 to June 2020, and the second wave can be considered from July 2020 onwards.

When testing for relationships, I found that the median of confirmed cases for democrat states is significantly different from the median of confirmed cases for republican states.

There are also significant differences between counties where the majority of the population is 50 years or older, less than 50 years old and counties with the same proportion.
